M.S. & FAA's Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
The Purdue Extension UAV Technology Program provides participants with essential knowledge and skills to acquire their FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate and safely implement the technology within their respective career pathway. The course combines test preparation, flight instructions, camera settings, flight plans, record keeping, data management, image quality, troubleshooting and sensors, artificial intelligence, and emergency preparation through hands on activities that reinforce the material presented during the class. The course has been taught to over 150 residents. Results of the program have been positive. 92% of participants reported that they intend to use UAV technology in their professionl capacities. All respondents reported being more aware of the legality and safety protocols associated with UAV technology. After taking the class, one participant stated "I can make a more informed decision on the current technology and make use of the technology I already own." By offering this training, Purdue Extension can now reach new audiences, enhancing opportunities in those in agriculture, and expanding beyond to include emergency responders, architects, engineers, construction companies, forestry and wildlife experts, videographers, urban planners/county commissioners, insurance adjusters, real estate, and many others.
