Description

Instructors possess a minimum of five (5) years of documented industry welding experience and hold current or prior performance-based welding certifications aligned with AWS standards (including GTAW applications). Faculty demonstrate competency in welding instruction, shop safety supervision, blueprint interpretation, and performance qualification preparation.

Where applicable, instructors may hold additional industry-recognized credentials or teaching licensure; however, workforce training is delivered under industry credential standards rather than K-12 academic licensure requirements.

This 60-hour program prepares individuals to perform entry-level Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG) using DCEN on stainless steel materials commonly used in manufacturing and fabrication environments. Instruction aligns with AWS D1.6 structural welding standards and focuses on precision weld control, heat management, tungsten preparation, shielding gas selection, and visual inspection criteria.

This course builds upon foundational GMAW/MIG skills and supports stackable credential progression within the welding career pathway. Upon successful completion, students may attempt AWS D1.6 2F performance-based welding qualification testing, based on instructor readiness evaluation.

Successful completion of Introduction to Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG) or documented equivalent welding experience is required prior to enrollment. Participants must demonstrate foundational welding safety knowledge, basic weld terminology understanding, and entry-level weld technique proficiency. All participants must be 18 years of age or older and physically able to safely perform welding tasks in a shop environment.

Applications and interviews are on a rolling basis and students are placed into apporpiate cohorts based on their needs.
