Description

Full-time and part-time faculty members must have a minimum of a Masters degree, but most have a Ph.D. This allows us to retain accreditation by CAEP and HLC.

The Transition to Teaching - Special Education program prepares candidates to teach student in all grades -- preschool through twelfth -- in the state of Indiana. Candidates acquire knowledage about specific characteristics of learners and pedagogical content knowledge so that they can create learning enviroments and experiences that best facilitate learning. These candidates also learn how to develop and carry outIndividual Educational Plans. Candidates can apply all successfully completed curses to the Masters of Science in Special Education program, if they decide to pursue that degree option. Doing so may lead to increased salary in their school district.

Bachelor's Degree

All students admitted to the PFW Transition to Teaching (TTT) Special Education program must have a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary institution with: an official transcript reflecting3.0 or higheron a 4.0 Grade Point Average Scale or an official transcript reflecting 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 Grage Point Average Scale and documentaton of five (5) years of professional experience or an official transcript reflecting 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 Grage Point Average Scale and proof of passing state approved content area examination(s) in the subject areas.

August 1 for Fall admission; December 1 for Spring admission; May 1 for Summer admission.
