Description

All instructors, clinical instructors, and program directors are registered nurses.  They also have train the trainer certification.

We at SWIHSA provide a qualified medication aide program that is a hybrid experience. We have created videos, quizzes, and reading material for the online instruction portion of the class.  Lab time is  provided to review and demonstrate the skills required to be a QMA. The instructor also requires a return demonstration to sign off on the students profiency on those skills. This is followed by 40 hours of practicum in our pre-approved licensed long term care facility with a nurse overseeing this training. They will get all of the required procedures that they have to have signed off on during those hours by working hand in hand with a nurse preceptor. After the practicum, their hours will be turned into the state along with all the supporting documentation. They will then be allowed to sit for the state test to receive their certification.
