Description

Indiana Paramedic: Licensure

This program prepares students to become Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians. During the course students expand their knowledge of  Anatomy and Physiology, assessment and treatment of medical emergencies, assessment and treatment of traumatic injuries and EMS operations. Students learn skills including Patient Assessment, Airway Management techniques, 12 lead EKG placement and transmission, Medication Administration, Intravenous Access, Childbirth, Splinting, Bleeding Control, and Spinal Immobilization. Students have the opportunity to practice these skills in the controlled environment of the classroom, as well in a clinical setting under the supervision of Physicians, Nurses, Paramedics, and Advanced EMTs. Students must complete a minimum of 162.5 instructional hours as well as minimum clinical rotation standards set forth by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. Upon successful completion of this course, students are elgible for the National Registry Advanced EMT certification exam.
