Description

All of the people involved in training the apprentices are seasoned professionals with a range of experience from 10 years to 35 years; some also have two-year degrees from an Instrumentation Technician program at accredited technical colleges.

The Instrumentation Technician program seeks to provide comprehensive technical and engineering training to prepare the participants for a career in this field.  The individuals will experience hands-on learning in the principles of flow, level, pressure, and temperature equipment, wiring schematics, process control loop fundamentals, calculations, troubleshooting techniques, and resolution of equipment problems.  They will learn electrical and electronic theory to be able to design, build, repair, adjust, and modify electronic components, circuit controls, and instruments to assist engineering design decisions.

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Successful candidates to become apprentices will need an understanding of technical concepts, higher-level math skills, mechanical aptitude, above-average verbal and written communication skills, and computer competency.  Previous experience using hand tools, drills, saws, socket wrenches, etc. is a plus.  They must also be willing and physically able to perform the demands of the job which involve walking varying distances, climbing on ladders or man lifts above floor level, wearing personal protective equipment, carrying tool boxes and bags, etc. 

Typically, apprentices will be selected by August 31st each year.
