Description

All instructors and journeyworkers at Maison de Lilly Beauty Academy must meet the following minimum requirements to ensure the quality and integrity of the training program:

  • Possess a valid Indiana Cosmetology License in good standing, issued by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA).

  • Have a minimum of five (5) years of verifiable professional experience in the field of cosmetology, including practical experience in hairstyling, cutting, coloring, and chemical services.

  • Be trained and approved through the Atarashii Apprentice Instructor Program, a structured and recognized apprenticeship education system that supports DOL standards and compliance.

  • Hold or be actively pursuing an Instructor Training Certification or recognized alternative instructional qualification that meets state or programmatic requirements.

  • Demonstrate professional excellence and mentorship capability, including the ability to train, supervise, and assess apprentices in a real-world salon setting.

These credentialing requirements align with Indiana state regulations and Department of Labor expectations, supporting high-quality instruction and professional development for all apprentices.

The Maison de Lilly Beauty Academy Apprenticeship Program is a 2,040-hour, U.S. Department of Labor-registered cosmetology apprenticeship designed to train and develop skilled professionals through a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on salon experience. Apprentices earn wages while learning, with progressive pay increases throughout the program. Training includes state board preparation, customer service, financial literacy, wellness, and entrepreneurship. Students gain real-world experience inside an active salon environment under licensed supervision. This program offers a debt-free pathway to licensure and long-term beauty career success.

High School Diploma or Equivalent

To be eligible for the cosmetology apprenticeship program at Maison de Lilly Beauty Academy, applicants must meet the following prerequisites:

  • Be at least 17 years old at the time of enrollment. Proof of age is required.

  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent, such as a GED. Official transcripts or a copy of the diploma must be submitted during the enrollment process.

  • Complete a program orientation and interview with the apprenticeship coordinator to determine readiness, commitment, and suitability for the program.

  • Submit a completed application packet, including:

    • Proof of residency and legal ability to work in the U.S.

    • Government-issued photo ID

    • Personal statement of interest

    • Two references (personal or professional)

  • Commit to a structured training schedule, including both related instruction (classroom/online learning) and on-the-job training (salon floor experience).

  • Sign the Apprenticeship Agreement and Training Contract, acknowledging the program terms, compensation schedule, wage progression, and expectations for attendance, performance, and conduct.

  • Willingness to work at least 30–40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends, as part of the registered training hours.

These prerequisites are designed to ensure students are entering the program prepared for both the academic and hands-on demands of a rigorous professional cosmetology apprenticeship.

Maison de Lilly Beauty Academy currently enrolls new apprentices twice per year.

  • Cohort 1 begins in July 2026, with an application deadline of May 31, 2026.

  • Cohort 2 begins in January 2027, with an application deadline of November 30, 2026.

This staggered enrollment schedule allows the academy to provide focused onboarding and support for each group of students while maintaining the highest standard of training under the Indiana Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship model.
