Millwrights install, maintain, diagnose and repair industrial machines that usually cost millions of dollars. Work is done on compressors, pumps, conveyors, monorails, extruders, turbines and mining equipment using hand and power tools, including welding equipment. Millwrights may adjust a machine’s calibration just the width of a human hair and increase that machine’s productivity by 20 percent. Safety is at the forefront of everything a millwright does.  Millwrights come to the training center for a week-long course once every calendar quarter (4 weeks per year). There they will get trained on the basics of each of the topics below.  The rest of the year they are working in the field with a journeyworker, putting the basics to work and learning the trade from masters in their field.
