Credentials require eithe ra two-year degree from a recognized institution in the major they are instructing or at least two years practical experience in the major area theya re assigned to teach in addition to professional licensure or industry-recognized certification in the instructing field.
This rigorous HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration) curriculum prepares learners for a career as skilled heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers. It covers the concepts technicians need to safely install, maintain, and troubleshoot HVACR systems. The curriculum also covers needed basic knowledge of sheet metal, welding, and pipefitting. This is a 10-week hybrid course meeting face-to-face on Mondays and Wednesdays 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM for hands-on training and proctored exams through NCCER. The first two weeks will focus on passing the NCCER Core exam and the remaining eight weeks will focus on HVAC/R including the EPA608 certification. Student will perform hands-on skills of installing, maintaining, and trouble shotting HVAC/R systems. Students will be assigned WIN for career readiness online as well as training modules through NCCER.
Students must be 17.5 years of age and above. Students must score a minimum of 539 in Reading and 513 in Math on the TABE assessment or a level 4 on WorkKeys Workplace Documents and a level 3 on WorkKeys Applied Math.
