Program faculty hold at least a masters degree in the respective fields. Additionally, many faculty have signficant practical experience and experience in the field of education.
The IPS Teacher Pre-Apprenticeship Program prepares current school staff and aspiring educators for entry into the Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program and the teaching profession. Participants complete foundational coursework through Ivy Tech Community College while gaining practical experience working in classrooms within Indianapolis Public Schools. The program is aligned with the in-demand occupation of K-12 teaching and is designed to build a sustainable pipeline of future educators by supporting participants in developing the academic knowledge and practical skills needed to pursue teacher licensure and a bachelor’s degree in education.
Must be an employee of Indianapolis Public Schools in good standing.
Indianapolis Public Schools will admit employees into the pre-apprenticeship program intermittetly over the course of the year as additional funding sources are secured. Initial deadlines for application are end of April each year.
