Faculty are experientially qualified and hold at least a certification in their field of study.
The Certificate in Phlebotomy Technician Program provides students with dynamic learning experiences in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings. The program curriculum and objectives are designed to provide comprehensive education focused on the most commonly used skills among Phlebotomy Technology professionals. Coursework includes 7 weeks of intensive classroom, laboratory, and externship learning experiences in the areas of human basic anatomy and physiology for blood collection, infection control, medical terminology, venous and capillary specimen collection, routine venipuncture, specialized blood collection, and specimen handling. The classroom and laboratory experiences prepare students for an 80-hour externship experience. The externship opportunity offers students the chance to collaborate with medical professionals in a real-world setting. Externship opportunities are not paid. At the end of the program, the student is awarded a Certificate of Completion.
