Description

The program faculty holds a Masters in Health Administration.

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program at Gifted Hands Academy is designed to prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies necessary to provide emergency medical care in prehospital and emergency settings. This comprehensive program combines classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory training, simulation-based learning, and clinical experiences to prepare students for entry-level employment as Emergency Medical Technicians and eligibility for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification examination, where applicable.

Students will learn to assess and manage medical and traumatic emergencies, perform patient assessments, maintain airways, administer oxygen, provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), operate automated external defibrillators (AEDs), control bleeding, immobilize injured patients, administer approved medications, assist with emergency childbirth, and safely transport patients. The curriculum also includes advanced airway management, patient monitoring, trauma care, spinal motion restriction, emergency vehicle operations awareness, and patient care documentation.

Throughout the program, students will participate in skills laboratories, scenario-based simulations, and supervised clinical experiences designed to develop critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and decision-making abilities required in the emergency medical services profession. Emphasis is placed on professionalism, patient safety, ethical practice, cultural competency, and adherence to state and national EMS standards.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will possess the foundational knowledge and psychomotor competencies necessary to provide effective emergency medical care in a variety of healthcare and public safety environments, including ambulance services, fire departments, hospitals, emergency departments, industrial settings, and other emergency response organizations.
