Program faculty must possess education, licensure, certification, and occupational experience appropriate to the specific subjects assigned. Faculty teaching core clinical medical assisting content must hold a current, unrestricted healthcare license or nationally recognized medical assisting credential, such as RN, LPN, CMA, RMA, or CCMA, and have at least two years of relevant clinical experience. Instructors teaching specialized nonclinical subjects may hold another related healthcare credential when their education and experience directly align with the content taught. Faculty supervising clinical skills must demonstrate competency in those procedures and maintain current CPR/BLS certification.
Rooted Health Institute’s Certified Clinical Medical Assistant program is a 252-hour, 18-week online training program designed to prepare students for entry-level medical assisting positions and national CCMA certification. Students complete asynchronous instruction in clinical and administrative medical assisting, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, infection control, vital signs, patient intake, medication administration, electrocardiography, phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, patient communication, scheduling, billing, coding, and medical office procedures.
The program incorporates NHA learning resources, Science Interactive laboratory activities, clinical simulations, assignments, competency assessments, and certification practice examinations. Optional live tutoring and remediation may be provided based on student need. Students may also elect to complete an optional 160-hour externship and a separate four-hour career-development workshop; neither optional component is required for graduation.
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or recognized equivalent. Applicants must also meet Rooted Health Institute’s admissions requirements, which may include submitting a completed application, providing valid identification, completing an admissions interview or orientation, and satisfying any required background screening, health, immunization, CPR/BLS, or clinical-site eligibility requirements. Additional requirements may apply only to students who elect to participate in the optional externship.
