Description

Program faculty must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, a current nationally recognized phlebotomy certification or an applicable healthcare credential that includes phlebotomy within its scope of practice, and at least two years of documented professional experience performing phlebotomy or related laboratory procedures. Faculty responsible for hands-on laboratory instruction must demonstrate competency in venipuncture, capillary collection, infection prevention, specimen processing, patient safety, and management of collection complications. Clinical preceptors must meet the qualification requirements of the affiliated clinical site and possess appropriate education, certification, licensure, and occupational experience for the duties they supervise. Prior teaching, training, or preceptor experience is preferred.

The Certified Phlebotomy Technician Program at Rooted Health Institute is a 10-week, 120-clock-hour training program that prepares students for entry-level employment in hospitals, clinics, physician offices, medical laboratories, blood donation centers, long-term-care facilities, and other healthcare settings. The program combines live instructor-led instruction, hands-on laboratory practice, supervised experiential training, and guided self-study. Students receive training in infection prevention, patient identification and preparation, venipuncture, capillary collection, order of draw, special collections, specimen labeling and processing, quality assurance, complication management, communication, and professional conduct. The curriculum is aligned with the NHA Certified Phlebotomy Technician content domains and includes certification preparation, practical competency evaluations, and documentation of required blood-collection skills.

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or meet the Institute’s approved secondary-school enrollment requirements and possess a high school diploma, GED, or recognized equivalent before program completion, unless otherwise permitted for an approved high school pathway. Applicants must complete the enrollment application, participate in orientation, and provide valid identification and any required education documentation. Because the program includes hands-on laboratory and experiential training, students must be able to perform the essential functions of phlebotomy with or without reasonable accommodation, including standing for extended periods, using fine motor skills, communicating with patients, following safety procedures, and responding appropriately to clinical situations. Before participating in experiential training, students may also be required to complete a background check, drug screening, immunization verification, tuberculosis screening, CPR/BLS certification, and any additional health or compliance requirements established by the Institute or affiliated clinical site. Admission does not guarantee placement at a particular clinical site, certification eligibility, employment, licensure, or a specific wage.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the cohort reaches capacity. Applicants are encouraged to apply at least two weeks before the scheduled program start date to allow sufficient time to complete enrollment, orientation, payment arrangements, and any required background, health, or clinical-site documentation. Late applications may be considered if space remains and all admission requirements can be completed before the first day of class.
