Description

All full-time faculty have a Ph.D. This allows our program to retain accreditation by AACSB. Part-time faculty must hold a minimum of a MS/MBA in the field they teach.

As noted previously, we have divided our Accounting Certificate into two stackable certificates. This is in response to data that indicate splitting the program will result in more students earning the Accounting Skills for Professionals certificate.  Currently, students with a business background who want to move into an accounting position enroll in the 24-credit certificate. However, because they do not wish to become a CPA, they stop before completing all required courses. The first 12 credits prepare them well for a new accounting position. As stackable certificates, students will take the Accounting Skills before being eligible to enroll in the Pathway to CPA Post-baccalaurate Certificate.

In combination with a bachelor’s degree earned at an appropriately accredited institution and the Accounting Skills for Professionals Certificate, the Accounting Pathway to CPA Certificate meets the current minimum accounting educational requirements to sit for the Uniform Certified Public Accounting Examination in Indiana (administered by theNational Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), https://nasba.org/exams/cpaexam/indiana/), if students select the correct electives.

Thus, candidates choose if they want to pursue taking the CPA exam. All students who choose to sit for the CPA exam are advised to take a CPA Exam Review course before taking the exam. The cost of those courses range from over a $1,000 to $4,000.
