Master's degree in an education-specific content area
UIndy’s Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education prepares candidates to teach in K–6 classrooms through an interdisciplinary program with a reading, STEM, or special education focus. The program can be completed in three and a half or four years and includes the coursework needed for UIndy to recommend graduates for Indiana licensure in elementary education, mild intervention, and reading. Candidates begin working in K–6 schools during their first semester and continue through a full-time student-teaching experience, gradually assuming greater responsibility for planning and instruction. According to alumni survey data reported by UIndy, elementary education graduates have achieved a 100% job-placement rate for the past three years.
