Per Indiana law (IC 25-8), all instruction at a licensed barber school must be delivered or supervised by a

licensed barber instructor. This requirement is maintained at all times during instructional operations at

Mended Arrows Academy.

The Indiana Barber License Program at Mended Arrows Academy of Barbering, Inc. is Indiana's first healing-centered barber training program, designed to prepare students for licensure by the Indiana State Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners while equipping them with the personal, professional, and entrepreneurial skills to build lasting careers. The program delivers 1,500 clock hours of instruction through four structured learning modes: Theory (classroom instruction in barbering science, Indiana law, and professional standards), Demonstration (instructor-led live client services with student observation and narration), Clinic Floor (supervised student services on real clients in a fully equipped licensed clinic), and Video (curriculum-aligned instructional modules). Students complete instruction in haircut techniques, clipper and scissor skills, fade and taper execution, beard design, straight razor shaving, scalp and hair health, sanitation and infection control, Indiana State Board regulations, Mental Health First Aid, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, brand development, and customer experience. The program is the Related Technical Instruction component of a DOL Registered Apprenticeship through Redemption Barbershop LLC, enabling qualifying students to earn wages during training while simultaneously accruing On-the-Job Learning hours toward a full apprenticeship credential. Graduates are prepared to sit for the Indiana State Barber Board examination and to pursue employment as licensed barbers, barbershop owners, or participants in the registered apprenticeship pathway.

Applicants must meet the minimum age requirement established by Indiana law: 18 years of age, or 17

years of age with a high school diploma or its equivalent, as required by Indiana statute for barber school

enrollment. No high school diploma, GED, or prior barbering experience is required for general admission to

the program.

Skills Assessment (Track A Only): Applicants interested in the Tuition Forgiveness track (Track A) will

complete an optional skills assessment to determine their current barbering skill level and whether they

qualify for tuition forgiveness through demonstrated clinic performance. This assessment does not affect

general admission to the program — it determines only the applicable tuition structure.

Apprenticeship Track Additional Requirement: Applicants enrolling through the DOL Registered

Apprenticeship track must additionally execute a Registered Apprenticeship Agreement with Redemption

Barbershop LLC (the DOL-registered sponsor) in addition to the Mended Arrows Student Enrollment

Agreement. This additional requirement is specific to the apprenticeship track and does not affect general

program admission.

Applications are accepted year-round on a rolling basis. There is no fixed application deadline. New cohort start dates are available at the beginning of each month subject to available seats. Students are encouraged to complete their enrollment application and any required funding arrangements (ITA, Skills Enhancement Fund, employer sponsor documentation) at least two to four weeks prior to their intended start date to allow time for processing.
