Minimum credentials is a two year degree and two years experience in the field.
The Community Health Worker training program is a 7-week hybrid course that combines self-directed online learning, virtual instruction, interactive discussion, and practical application. Students will complete self-study modules, read assigned sections of the Foundations for Community Health Workers textbook, review and discuss instructional videos, complete quizzes and assessments, participate in weekly online discussions, and attend two-hour virtual review sessions. Students will also complete a community-based project that allows them to apply the knowledge, skills, and competencies developed throughout the course. Students will complete one day of observation on the job with a partnering business towards the end of the course. This course is in partnership with Healthways Alliance and Empowering with Passion Counseling.
Students must be able to pass a criminal background check and score a minimum of 536 on a Reading TABE assessment or a minimum of Level 4 on a Workplace Documents WorkKeys exam.
