Description

Must be a certified billing and coding specialist with 3 to 5 years experience.

This course is designed to give the student basic knowledge of the guidelines for the coding and billing in a medical setting. The student will have a brief introdution to the Medical Terminology.The student will learn how to code using the ICD-9-CM and the ICD-10-CM, CPT and the HCPCS manuals. In the billing portion of the course student will gain knowledge of major health insurance programs and Federal heathcare legislation to correctly process medical claim forms with different types of commercial insurance, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE and Workers compensation in addition to diability. Student will practice filling out CMS-1500 claim forms and more. Upon successfully completion of the program the student will be eligible to sit for the NHA for the Medical Billing and Coding Specialist.
