Description

Our welding instructor is experienced and credentialed. She is also the instructor for the SCILL CTE Program and has a Workplace Specialist Teacher's license through IVY TECH.  At minimum, she has at least 12 years experience/instruction and she is certified.

-This program is designed for those who: (A) Have basic welding skills but are looking for certification or, (B) Those wanted to either gain welding skills and/or become certified in a different entry level AWS area/classification. For example: become proficient in TIG welding, aluminum, or pipe welding where these additional skills allow the student to have flexibility in their options in the welding field, however pipe welding certifications may require additional courses. - Many Hoosiers have had some exposure to welding in a high school agriculture class or welding on the farm/home, but this may not be enough expertise to help you enter the work place. Whether you are in a current position hoping to upgrade (OR if you have some level of welding expertise but need this training for specific entry level positions, it is our intention as a service provider to modify our training to fit your needs. Additionally, because welding employers have been in agreement that measurement skills, symbol understanding, and blueprint reading give candidates an inside track on the welding job market, we have included these components in all of our entry level AWS classes. - Individuals will work with program staff to evaluate their current welding skills, set a certification goal, and design a customized training program. Should individuals require less than the complete 12 weeks of training, the total cost of the program will be reduced.
