Certified Phlebotomist or Certified Lab Technician
The primary responsibility of a Phlebotomist is to obtain specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. This requires the Phlebotomist to become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection process. The focus of the training program is to provide students with comprehensive skills to be able to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Lecrtures will include medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, blood collection procedures, specimen communication skills and professionalism. Students will have hands-on lab practice sessions to learn the skills and techniques to perform the required puncture methods. Upon successful completion of program students will recieve a VU certificate of completion and have the opportunity to test for the National Healthcareers Association Certificate.
GED or High School Diploma. May include those currently working on GED and will finish prior to completion of training program.
