Master in Library Science
This certificate is designed to offer to students who are working towards Indiana Public Librarian certification. The following courses, LIBR 200, 207, and 208 are required to earn the LC5 certificate along with an Associate's degree (of any type). LIBR 101, 103, and 104 are prerequisite courses for LIBR 207 and 208. LIBR 201 and 203 are required for the LC4 certificate along with a Bachelor's degree.The courses give an understanding of the history of libraries and the purposes, functions, and roles of the different types of libraries. It will provide training in basic library technical services including ordering, processing, and copy-cataloging of the variety of types and forms of materials found in libraries; library public support services including circulation, interlibrary loan, and basic reference. They also teach basic skills in supervision and management and collection development.
