Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (ASN) and Practical Nursing (PN) Program Faculty Standard:A full- or part-time faculty member in the ASN or PN program must meet all of the following criteria:1. Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse and,2. Possesses a current, unencumbered Indiana Registered Nurse license, and3. The majority of faculty shall hold master’s degrees in nursing.4. Faculty with Bachelor’s degrees in nursing must meet ALL of the following requirements:a. Within one semester of initial appointment, must have a written academic plan of study for completion of a Master’s degree in nursing, andb. Provides ongoing documentation (each semester) demonstrating matriculation towards completion of a Master’s degree in nursing, andc. Continued employment of a person who does not hold a Master’s degree in nursing shall be contingent upon documented progress towards their approved academic plan.5. The majority of faculty must be full-time employees of the institution. ISBN Title 848 I-A-C 1-2-13.

The Transition to ASN Track of the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree program is designed for students who are:

  • Licensed Practical Nurses 
  • Medical Assistants 
  • Military Medics 
  • Paramedics 

seeking to progress to the Registered Nurse (RN) level. 

Once admitted to the program, an Associate of Science in Nursing degree can be achieved in about 3 semesters.

Transition to ASN students must maintain a current, active, unencumbered license throughout the duration of the Transition to ASN program.

Transition to ASN students must maintain a current, active, unencumbered license throughout the duration of the Transition to ASN program.

Once your requirements for admissions are complete (such as completing any prerequisite courses, the Knowledge Assessment and required remedial courses, scoring at the PROFICIENT level or higher on the ATI TEAS Test, and submitting your high school transcript or High School Equivalency Exam test scores), you may apply for admission to the School of Nursing.

Students may apply to a nursing program during three application windows each year:

  • March 15 - May 15 for Fall Program Start
  • August 15 - October 15 for Spring Program Start
  • December 1 - February 1 for Summer Program Start
