Paralegal Studies Program Standard:A qualified faculty member in paralegal studies meets the educational component of the program standard through one of three routes:1. Possesses an earned Juris Doctor degree, from a regionally accredited institution or2. Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in paralegal studies or a related field, or3. Possesses an earned associate degree in paralegal studies and a baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institutionAnd, faculty meeting one of the educational criteria above must also have one of the following:? Professional licensure in the field; or Two years of directly related work experience.

Ivy Tech's paralegal program provides students with the wide variety of skills needed to handle duties such as performing legal research, drafting legal correspondensce, interviewing clients and managing trial exhibits. Courses are taught by attorneys who are experienced in the subject matter and familiar with the important role paralegals play as members of the legal team.
