This class provides training for adults interested in being employed as a full-time or part-time teaching assistant in a K-12 school district. In this training class you will *Review the reading, math, and language skills that teaching assistants typically help children learn; *Prepare to take the ParaPro Assessment in reading, math, and language as required by the State of Indiana for employment as a teaching assistant; *Learn the tasks that teaching assistants are expected to carry out; *Earn the National Career Readiness Certificate; *Earn certification in the “Soft Skills” required of teaching assistants: Professionalism, Communication, Teamwork & Collaboration, and Thinking Critically & Solving Problems; and *Practice interviews for teaching assistant positions. .
High school diploma or equivalent, or concurrent enrollment in adult basic education class.
