QUALIFICATIONS: 5+ Years of Industry Experience. Experience leading and teaching in a shop environmentLICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS: Must be eligible through the Indiana Department of Education for a CTE Trade Industrial: Welding 5-12, or Workplace Specialist: Welding 9-12 licensure. If pursuing the Workplace Specialist Licensure, candidate must have verifiable occupational experience in a related field meeting 6,000 hours (3 years experience) in the last five years OR 4,000 hours in the past 10 years with one of the following: Welding Certifications Completion of an accredited 2-year or higher degree in the specific certification area Completion of an apprenticeship or internship program

This course is designed as an introductory course to TIG Welding. Students will learn welding theory while getting applied training of welds in various positions on various materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Students will focus on production welding with the end goal of workplace readiness. In the field, TIG applications include welding stainless in the food industry; stainless, aluminum, titanium, and magnesium in the aircraft and aerospace industry; alloys in race car frames; and mild steel on pressure vessels. For the home hobby welder and artist, TIG is great for sculptures and other projects. Hobbyists and artists generally use mild steel, stainless, aluminum, and, to a lesser extent, copper.

The Latinas Welding Guild is proud to provide barrier-free education for adults (18+ ages) to start their welding careers. This level 2 class is a great way for students to build off of our Intro to MIG course, other MIG, intro to welding courses or industry related experience  that they've gained.

Applications and interviews are on a rolling basis and students are placed into apporpiate cohorts based on their needs.
