Our minimum credentials require someone that has worked in a professional capacity in the software development field. We expect them to have the following:

  1. Technical Proficiency:

    • Hands-on Experience: Instructors should have practical experience in programming languages, frameworks, and tools relevant to the course content.

    • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to solve coding challenges and debug code effectively.

    • Stay Current: Keep up with industry trends and evolving technologies.

    • Contribute: Active participation in online coding communities or local tech events.

  2. Effective Communication Skills:

    • Clarity: Instructors must convey complex concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

    • Listening Skills: Actively listen to students’ questions and provide thoughtful answers.

    • Understanding Student Struggles: Recognize that learning programming can be intimidating. Create a supportive environment.

    • Open Door Policy: Encourage questions and foster a collaborative atmosphere

  3. Ethical Considerations:

Our soft skills instructors are expected to have the same effective communication skills and ethical considerations as above.

Our program is intended to approach learning holistically and has several components.

  • The Complete 2024 Web Development Bootcamp - This online course aims to equip learners with comprehensive web development skills, covering both front-end and back-end technologies. It includes topics such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, React, databases, and deployment.

  • 100 Days of Code: The Complete Python Pro Bootcamp - This online course focuses on Python programming, emphasizing practical coding exercises and projects. It covers Python fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, web scraping, and more.

  • Soft skills - These assessments and exercises help students gain Self-Awareness, Professionalism, Time Management and Organization skills. There are some complementary online courses for students who want to explore the topics further in depth.

  • Check-ins - Our program director will connect with each student on regular intervals for social-emotional check-ins. Connections will focus on student progress (both personal and academic), challenges, address misconceptions, and celebrate achievements. Collectively, the director and student will determine any adjustments needed to enhance the learning experience.

  • Cohorts - Students are grouped with other students who are at a similar point in their learning journey and anticipated pace of learning to make use of peer scaffolding. All students are also connected with one another through a professional social application for networking, support, and building strategic relationships.

  • Technical online help - Help is available for our online courses through Discord messaging app. This responsive channel allows student help even during evenings and weekends.

  • Technical coaches - Technical coaches will be available as needed to help students with personalized guidance, clarifying complex programming concepts, providing debugging assistance, and exploring problem-solving strategies.

  • Professional Networking - Students are invited to participate in events with local employers and technical professionals to create relationships and build soft skills.

While no grade level instruction or job experience is required, students are expected to have the following:

  1. Passion for Learning: A genuine interest in coding and a willingness to learn are essential. Enthusiasm drives motivation and helps learners overcome challenges.

  2. Positive Attitude: A positive mindset is crucial. Coding can be challenging, but a can-do attitude encourages persistence and growth.

  3. Strong Work Ethic: Coding requires consistent effort. Students should be prepared to dedicate time and energy to practice and problem-solving.

  4. Adaptability: Coding involves continuous learning and adapting to new technologies. Being open to different approaches and ideas is valuable.

  5. Effective Communication Skills: Clear communication helps in understanding concepts and seeking help when needed. Students must be willing to initiate conversations when something isn’t working for them.

  6. Self-Discipline and Time Management: Online courses require initiative and grit. Students should manage their time effectively and stay committed to the course. Check-ins will help with accountability.

  7. Basic Computer Literacy: Familiarity with using computers, navigating the internet, and basic software tools is necessary. Skills like file management, using a web browser, and installing software are helpful.

  8. Basic Math and Logic Skills: Coding involves logical thinking and problem-solving. A foundational understanding of math concepts is beneficial. No formal training in this area is required, but an attitude that is open to learning these skills is essential.

  9. Access to a Computer and Internet: Reliable access to a computer or laptop with an internet connection is necessary for participating in online coding courses. Downloading and using computer tools will also be important to student success.

  10. No Prior Coding Experience Required: The course is beginner-friendly and assumes no prior coding knowledge. The right attitude matters more than existing skills.

The application deadlines for this particular program are flexible. Prospective learners can enroll at any time, and they will be grouped with other students who are at approximately the same stage of learning. This approach allows for a more personalized and continuous learning experience, accommodating individuals’ schedules and learning paces.
