Description

The program directors minimum degree is an ASN or RN degree in nursing.

The QMA program is a 100 hour program that trains CNA's to safely pass medications and perform light treatments on residents in LTC and ALF's. The student is required to complete 60 hours of classroom training before they are allowed to complete the required 40 hours of clinical training in a Nursing Home or Assisted Living Facility setting. Once they have completed the full 100 hour requirement, they will submit an application to ISDH that alloows them to sit for the Indiana proctored QMA exam. Added to the program is the insulin training. This training adds 4 hours to the calssic class and 2-4 hours to the classic practicum training.

In order for a student to qualify for the QMA program the following must be completed: Be at least 18 years of age Have proof of a high school diploma or equivalent Be in good standing as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) on theIndiana Aide Registry Worked a minimum of 1,000 hours as a CNA within the last 24 months Pass a pre-assessment Math and English exam.For the added insulin training, the QMA will be required to take the classic exambefore they are permitted to take the insulin state exam.

Applicants may apply up to one week before the class is scheduled to begin. After this time, applications will be processed for the next available start date.
