Description

Faculty teaching the course have a master's degree or higher in education, English, or Linguistics. Each faculty member also has at least 3 years of experience teaching writing to persons 16+ and older. 

This 18-hour course guides participants through the following topics:

  • Writing clear sentences
  • Organizing writing 
  • Understanding writing from the reader's point of view
  • Formatting emails, memos, and reports
  • Using writing to grow in your career

For each session participants engage in a set of writing activities geared towards a particular topic. After each session participants are asked to notice writing within their work environment, collect writing artifacts, and practice skills learned in the session. 

To receive a certificate of completion, participants must complete all key assessments and complete the final assessment with a mark of proficient or above.

Participants should have access to an email address and internet. Participants must be comfortable writing three continuous paragraphs.
