Faculty members have at least an associate  degree in the field of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technology, at least 4 years of experience in the field of expertise and a credential in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technology from ARMRIT, ARRT or its equivalent

The Associate degree in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technology is the education and preparation of students for a career as an MRI Technologist/technician. The associate degree curriculum is designed to synthesize clinical and didactic experiences in Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technology, to instill a desire to excellence in practice, and to provide a foundation for academic and career advancement.

The following are the program objectives:

  1. Build a foundation of knowledge and skills in the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technology,

  2. Learn theories, skills, and professional values for the MRI Technologists,

  3. Learn the medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, healthcare laws & ethics for health sciences professionals,

  4. Learn effective communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills,

  5. Exhibit behavior consistent with the professional, ethical, and legal standards of allied health, 

  6. Learn patient care and safety processes, procedures, and protocols for health professionals,

  7. Learn the basic quality control (QC) processes, procedures, and techniques in MRI Technology,

  8. Demonstrate competencies relevant to MRI Technology,

  9. Learn the components of the MR system hardware,

  10. Learn the mechanism by which MR signal is produced and detected,

  11. Learn conceptualize and explain spatial localization as well as MR image formation,

  12. Learn magnetism with reasonable comfort and ability to use the subjective material to apply the principle of pulse sequences for appropriate clinical application in MRI Technology, 

  13. Learn to apply the imaging parameters & options available to the user for optimal MR imaging,

  14. Learn to identify the tissue parameters that affect tissue contrast in MR imaging, and

  15. Learn the clinical, technical, and ethical skills necessary to obtain entry-level employment in MRI imaging field

For admission in a distance education course or program, an applicant must complete the following additional distance education requirements prior to enrollment:

  • Pass (by scoring 70% or higher) the Distance Education Orientation Course (DEOC),
  • Pass (by scoring 70% or higher) Digital Literacy Assessment Test (DLAT),
  • Complete and sign a Distance Education Assessment Form (DEAF),
