Qualifications of Instructors:

valid Class A CDL license for minimum 3 years, pass Department of Transportation Medical Test and Drug Test Screen, minimum High School Diploma, complete Background Check and Fingerprinting, clean Motor Vehicle Driving Record (MVR), complete Progressive Truck Driving School 'Train the Trainer' Program, pass Secretary of State Instructor Exam, receive an Instructor License.

Program Description:

A 200 hour Class A CDL program meets or exceeds the basic hiring criteria for most truckload freight haulers seeking drivers. It provides students the opportunity to gain knowledge and develop skills that will secure means of gaining employment as a commercial truck driver. The course includes classroom instruction, as well as in truck skill and street/ highway training. It encompasses safe and efficient braking, shifting, turning, as well as vehicle inspection and maintenance, coupling and uncoupling, safe driving practices, communication, visual search, speed and space management, log book keeping, cargo handling and documentation. The course does not only include the 160 hour minimum Secretary of State curriculum, but moreover it provides additional behind-the-wheel training, as well as eligibility for 1one additional endorsement.

Prerequisites Description:

A student may be accepted into a program of study once he/she satisfies all of the following requirements: provides with a proof of legal presence in the United States, has a valid Illinois Driver's License, meets the minimum age requirement of 21 years of age, passes the required Department of Transportation Medical Examination (49 CFR 391.41-391.49) with a Drug Screen, presents a copy of his/her Court Purpose Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
