Description

Wayne Township Adult Education (WTAE) requires our faculty members to be a Registered Nurse, License Practical Nurese, or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) with licensing and six years of experience in the field.

This hybrid-based course prepares medical assistant students to perform patient clinical skills in various medical office settings. Students perform clinical procedures including administering medications, assisting with minor surgery, performing an electrocardiogram, obtaining laboratory specimens for testing, educating patients, and maintaining clinical equipment in an ambulatory care setting. Medical assistants perform routine clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, and optometrists running smoothly. Clinical duties may include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, and assisting the physician during the examination. Medical assistants collect and prepare laboratory specimens or perform basic laboratory tests on the premises. They instruct patients about medication and special diets, prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician, authorize drug refills as directed, telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy, draw blood, prepare patients for x-rays, take electrocardiograms, and change dressings. This course is divided into three sections: Clinical Medical Assisting Medical Terminology EKG Phlebotomy This course aligns with and adheres to the CCR (College and Career Readiness) Standards and the Adult Education Literacy (TABE 11/12) Standards delivered by Wayne Township Adult Education staff. This program will provide the necessary training and skills required to pass the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination.

Wayne Township Adult Education (WTAE) has a very intentional onboarding program that is designed to make sure that our students are adequately prepared for the program. All students will complete several steps on adulted.info/careers: The steps are as follows:1) I-9 documents, 2) intake form, 3) barriers assessment, 4) student information form, 5) financial outlook exercise, 6) diploma or transcripts, 7) Indiana Career Explorer Assessments, 8) resume designed with model standards, 9) attendance agreement, 10) scholarship terms, 11) externship documents, an 12) Test Assessing Secondary Completion, and 12) Interview with our life coaching staff. The CCMA class is rigoursat WTAE we have an intensive onboard to make sure that our students are prepared for success.

Wayne Township Adult Education (WTAE) has a rolling application process. The school operates CCMA classes in the fall and spring semesters. The class schedules are posted on adulted.info/careers. It is recommended to submit your application early to ensure a seat. WTAE advices that applications will be submited prior to May 15 for the fall semester and November 15 for the spring semester.
