The objective of the TIG (GTAW) Gas Tungsten Arc Welding 2" & 4" Stainless Pipe course is to provide a student with advanced skills in gas tungsten arc welding on 2" & 4" schedule 80, mild steel pipe. The TIG (GTAW) Stainless Pipe Welding 2" & 4" course is designed to provide students with the following: An advanced understanding of the gas tungsten arc process, equipment and set up procedures for 2" & 4" stainless pipe and purging to avoid sugaring. An understanding of the key variables that affect the quality of welds such as, material preparation and fit up, amperage control, electrode angles, travel speed, electrode manipulation, and stickout. A working knowledge of walking the cup and finger stall techniques used to weld 2" & 4" pipe. Video demonstrations and skill building exercises involving single v-groove welds on 2" & 4" schedule 80 mild steel pipe. Testing: To successfully complete the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding 2" & 4" Pipe course, the student is required to pass: Written test on the gas tungsten arc welding for stainless pipe A visual inspection and an industry standard guided bend test on 2" & 4" schedule 80 mild steel.
Students must be skilled in TIG (GTAW) welding on plate prior to entering the TIG (GTAW) Stainless Pipe Welding 2" & 4"
Students can apply 1 week prior to each start date in order to register.
