Ivy Tech's Therapeutic Massage Certificate (CT) offers training that can prepare students for entry-level jobs or additional education. The program focuses on classroom and clinical training in:

  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Holistic wellness
  • Ethics
  • Therapeutic massage techniques

The Therapeutic Massage CT requires 25 credit hours, or three semesters, to complete. Therapeutic Massage is a selective admission program, which means we only accept a small number of students each semester. This ensures that accepted students receive the training and attention needed to be successful in their careers. Interested students must first apply to Ivy Tech and then complete an additional application for Health Sciences programs.

The program is designed to prepare you for entry into the massage profession, with an emphasis on working within the wellness and health care communities. We offer a Technical Certificate and an Associate’s Degree in Therapeutic Massage.

Our program gives excellent instruction and provides the perfect environment to become a top notch therapist. Massage skills include assessment, relaxation massage, therapeutic massage, deep tissue, sports massage, hydrotherapies, and applications for special populations including pregnant women, children, geriatrics and the disabled. Anatomy, physiology, disease conditions, pharmacology and their effects on the body alone and during massage applications are studied thoroughly, to promote understanding of massage indications and contraindications. Psychological and emotional issues, legal and ethical aspects, and business development are also addressed.

Students sit for the NBLEx National Certification Exam(Massage Bodywork Licensing Examination).

Students who are admitted to the program will be required to pay for and submit to a criminal background check, drug testing and physical exam. The details and process will be provided at an orientation. Attendance verification is also required in order to meet the Indiana state requirement. Please visit the website for more information.

The cost of supplies and labs may vary. Displayed pricing is based on full-time enrollment.
