CARD XXX Course Standard:A qualified faculty member teaching CARD XXX meets the Healthcare Specialist program standard or all three of the following:1. Possesses an earned associate’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution, and2. Has a minimum of 2 years directly related work experience; and3. One of the following:? Possesses current certification as an electrocardiography technician, or? Possesses current Indiana Registered Nurse or Respiratory Care Practitioner license, or? Is a Board Certified Exercise Physiologist? Is a current Indiana licensed Paramedic
A program that prepares individuals, under the supervision of physicians and nurses, to administer EKG and ECG diagnostic examinations and report results to the treatment team. Includes instruction in basic anatomy and physiology, the cardiovascular system, medical terminology, cardiovascular medications and effects, patient care, EKG and ECG administration, equipment operation and maintenance, interpretation of cardiac rhythm, patient record management, and professional standards and ethics.
Completion of the Electrocardiography Technician Certificate leads to eligibility for certification examination through the National Healthcare Association (NHA CET EKG Exam), employment and/or completion of an associate degree.
NOTE: The number of credits required for a degree or certificate is based on students who are program-ready and does not include College Prep courses.
