Description

School of Technology Standard:

A qualified full-time faculty member meets the education component of the School of Technology discipline standard through one of three routes:

  1. Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution in technology, engineering, engineering technology; or an earned baccalaureate or higher degree directly related to the program’s discipline and possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught and has two years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to competencies; or
  2. Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institutionAnd, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught ), and five years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies; or
  3. Possesses an earned associate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution directly related to the program’s discipline, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught, and And three years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies

A qualified part-time/adjunct faculty member meets the technical course standard through one of four routes:

  1. Meets the fulltime faculty discipline standard; or
  2. Possesses a Department of Labor, Bureau for Apprenticeship Training recognized journeyman’s card in the discipline directly related to credentials, certifications, and competencies, and in journeyman status for two years or more with experience that is specifically linked to the competencies, And, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught; or
  3. Possesses any specialized certifications or credentials required for the class being taught And, 5 years directly related work experience in the field that is specifically linked to the competencies; or
  4. Possesses a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education appropriate to course objectives and directly linked to credentials, certifications, and competencies, And, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught.

The Automotive Technology program offers exciting careers and unlimited opportunities. The Automotive Service Technology Technical Certificate (TC) prepares students for an entry-level career in the automotive field. Students learn about:

  • Maintenance and light repair
  • Heating and air conditioning systems
  • Diagnostic strategies for electrical and engine performance systems
  • Workplace communication

This is a hands-on training program that allows plenty of lab time to develop the skills needed to be successful in whichever emphasis of study the student chooses to go into. Supplies and fees vary.
