EMT / Basic Emergency Medical Studies
The EMT / Basic Emergency Medical Studies Certificate (CT) program prepares you for work as an EMT, as EMT certification is part of the program's curriculum. This certificate is also a prerequisite to applying for the Paramedic Studies AAS degree.
The course is based on the training program developed by the Department of Transportation and the Emergency Medical Services Commission of Indiana. It covers theories, techniques, and operational aspects of pre-hospital emergency care within the scope and responsibility of the emergency medical technician (EMT). It requires laboratory practice and clinical observation in a hospital emergency room and ambulance. Successful completion of the course meets national requirements to test for certification as an NREMT.
Our graduates that successfully pass this exam are working as ambulance paramedics, firefighter paramedics, tactical paramedics, emergency room paramedics, and even wilderness paramedics. Our graduates are currently working in some of the best hospitals and EMS providers across the state.
