Informatics (INFM) Program Standard:A qualified faculty member in Informatics (INFM) meets the program standard through one of four routes:1. Possesses an earned master’s degree or higher, from a regionally accredited institution, in information systems, information technology, or related field as appropriate to the program; or2. Possesses an earned related or out-of field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documented 18 semester hours or equivalent of courses beyond the introductory principle(s) level in information systems, information technology, or related field as appropriate to the program; or3. Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:a. Professional certification (national, regional or state)b. Two years of in-field professional employmentc. Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of awardd. Documentation of research and publication in the fielde. Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military; or4. Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in information systems, information technology, or related field as appropriate to the program, with documentation in two or more of the following:a. Professional certification (national, regional or state) in the fieldb. Two years of in-field professional employmentc. Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of awardd. Documentation of research and publication in the fielde. Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military.

The Technical Certificate in Informatics can be earned on the way to acquiring the Associate of Applied Science degree. Many available jobs require advanced education beyond the high school diploma. Technical Certificate programs provide education in conceptual and technical skills for specific occupations. The program content is designed to develop competency in the comprehension of general and technical skills. Certificate programs require mastery of basic reading, writing, mathematical and quantitative skills.This program is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

The field of informatics dynamically infuses information science and technology into the lives of people at work and play. It involves studying how people interact with computers to increase productivity and enhance communication. Students will learn to critically analyze approaches to processing information and develop skills to design, implement, and evaluate the next generation of information technology tools. It is a way to make a difference in the lives of others, so the focus of the program is on the social impact of computing - how people and technology connect. Students will study topics in information technology and information systems, completing their degree with a focus in areas such as health sciences, criminal justice, accounting, social sciences and others.

The TC in Informatics is 30 credits and completion of certain electives potentially enable students to earn a certification in CompTIA A+ or AWS Cloud Practitioner (optional).
