EMT-B, IDHS Certified Primary Instructor, EMT-B/A, IDHS Certified Primary Instructor, EMT-P, IDHS Certified Primary Instructor, R.N. / TNCC.Course Credential Standard: Credentials other than the program/discipline standard that may appropriately qualify one to teach a specific course. Examples might include a licensure, certification, specialty coursework, etc. specific to the single course. Professional Certification: A certificate by an external state, regional, national, or international agency that attests to significant breadth and depth of knowledge within a field of study.

A program that prepares individuals, under the remote supervision of physician medical control, to recognize, assess, and manage medical and trauma emergencies in the pre-hospital setting. Paramedic’s work with other pre-hospital responders and caregivers and often provide on scene primary care, assistance, support and supervision. This will often include either direct patient care or supportive assistance in basic, basic/advanced, or intermediate, care giving procedures such as; scene assessment, patient assessment, trauma and medical triage, basic and advanced airway procedures, cardiac monitoring, defibrillation, 12 Lead ECG acquisition and interpretation, venous and IO access, medication administration, trauma stabilization, identification and acquiring a differential diagnosis of diseases and traumatic injuries, rescue operations; crisis scene management, personnel supervision; equipment operation and maintenance. The Paramedic must also display skills and knowledge in newborn and pediatric care, obstetrics, bioterrorism and WMD, interpersonal communication, computer operations, radios communications; basic anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, toxicology, and professional standards and regulations.

PREREQUISITES: 1. The Paramedic candidate must hold a valid certification as an EMT-B, EMT-B/A or EMT-I issued by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security EMS Certification Division.2. The Paramedic candidate must hold a current AHA ( or equivalent) Healthcare Provider CPR card.3. The Paramedic candidate must provide documentation of a minimum of twenty (20) hours of ambulance patient compartment caregiver time while transporting patient(s).4. The Paramedic candidate must submit a completed Infectious Disease and Immunization Summary document.
