Description

Graduation from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or an otherwise recognized training entity (e.g., hospital-based program) in the specialty field or subject area in which they teach. Additionally, the faculty member possesses two (2) years of occupational (i.e., practical) experience in the subject field in which they teach; OR ii. A minimum of three (3) years of job-related training and experience, as described above, for those instructors who are not graduates from an accredited program in the field in which they teach.

The core portion of the program is designed to train for entry-level medical assisting/administrative positions. Graduates of this program receive not only specialized courses relating to the medical field, but also a solid background in the basic skills necessary for most office positions. Graduates will be prepared for positions such as medical assistant or clinical assistant. During the final quarter of study, students participate in an externship which will provide them with an opportunity to work in the field under the supervision and evaluation of a cooperating medical facility and the school. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to sit for a certification exam as a medical assistant through the AAMA for the CMA certification

Applicants must be a high school graduate or possess a GED. Applicants must submit to a background check. ATA may decline admission to applicants who, in ATA's sole opinion, may have difficulty finding employment in their field of applications as a result fo issues disclosed on their background check.

5 weeks prior to the class start date, classes start 5 times annually.
