We at SWIHSA provide a qualified medication aide program that is a hybrid experience. We have created videos for online instruction portion and then have lab time as well to demonstrate the skills required to be a QMA. The instructor also requires a return demonstration to sign off on the students profiency on those skills. This will then be followed by 40 hours of practicum in our pre approved licensed long term care facility with an RN overseeing this training. They will get all of the required procedures that they have to have signed off on during those hours by working hand in hand with a nurse preceptor. After the practicum their hours will be turned into the state along with all the supporting documentation and they will then be allowed to sit for the test to receive their certification.
Has to have a high school diploma as well as 1000 hours working a s a C.N.A. withinthe last 2 years. Also must have a background, physical, as well as a TB test done before beginning clinicals.
Must have turned in application as well as paid in full or set up payment arrangements in full before start of class.
