Our Qualified Medication Aide program is 5 weeks of classroom. The classroom session is 2 days a week from 8 am till 3 pm to complete the required 60 hours of classroom. Classroom instruction includes lecture and Instructor demonstration of tasks in the QMA scope of practice. Students will then be required to demonstrate proficiency of tasks to the Instructor to finish their perfomance checklist. Once classroom hours are completed, the students is required to do 40 hours of Practicum at the approved facility of their choice. Prior to their state exam the students is required to attend a mandatory 6 hour review session. In regards to the Insulin course once the QMA student passes the QMA portion and is on the IDOH registry they can complete the Insulin course which is 8 hours of instruction and then they go to their clinical space and admister insulin for a minimum of 2 - 4 hours with a Registered Nurse.
