Description

A Program Director must be a full time employee of the sponsoring institution have a minimum of an associate degree have instruction in educational theory and practices be credentialed in good standing in medical assisting, by an organization whose credentialing exam is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCAA) or the American Standards Institute have a minimum of three years of employment in a healthcare facility, including a minimum of 160 hours in an ambulatory healthcare setting performing or observing administrative and clinical procedures as performed by medical assistants have a minimum of one year teaching experience in post-secondary and/or vocational/technical education.Faculty or Instructional Staff Medical assisting faculty/and or instructional staff must be current and competent in the MAERB Core Curriculum objectives, included in their assigned teaching, as evidence by education and/or experience, and have instruction in educational theory and techniques

The Medical Assistant (MA) Certificate Program is designed to meet the identified critical need for this position within Northwest Indiana.This certificate will be one year in length and will adequately prepare the student to immediately gain employment and placement within the medical field.The certificate program is uniquely designed to have a majority of classes online,and specific hands-on courses that will be offered on ground. In addition, the 16-week externship will place students in critical need areas within physician networks that will allow them a combination of experience and orientation to the workflow and responsibilities of a medical practice.The curriculum meets the learning outcomes set by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and will prepare the student to sit for the national certification exam.
