Description

Welders and/or welding instructors with 5 plus years of industry experience.

This course is designed for all skill levels, from beginners to those who have some training and wish to achieve high skill levels for sheet metal and structural plate certifications. Using the American Welding Society SENSE program, students are trained using knowledge-based assessments, workmanship sample procedures, and Performance Qualification Tests to earn a SENSE credential.Welding emphasizes hands-on learning for adult students to become skilled in structural welding with the use of SMAW/stick (shield metal arc welding), GMAW/MIG (gas metal arcwelding), and GTAW/TIG (gas tungsten arc welding). Personalized instruction allows for accommodation of all skills. Typically, a SENSE Level 1: Entry Welder Certification (MIG) can be obtainedby attending 1- 12 week session. Related areas covered include tool and equipment safety,oxyfuel and plasma cutting, and proper grinding techniques.Basic safety equipment and tools (welding helmet, fire resistant welding jacket, MIG/stickgloves, TIG gloves, safety glasses, ratchet headgear with clear and green face shields, weldingpliers) are required to participate. Students must wear jeans, a long sleeved shirt & leather shoes or boots.
