Description

National Pharmacy Technician Certification

The IU Health Pharmacy Technician Program is a 4.5 month full-time, days program that is offered 2 times per year in July and January. The program is nationally accredited and consist of 604 contact hours. The first 12 weeks of the program include didactic coursework and 120 hours of hands on lab. Courses that students attend are Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Calculations, Pharmacy Law, Pharmacy Practice, Professionalism for Technicians, Sterile Products and Dispensing Lab. Students will then spend 6 weeks in clinical rotations Monday through Friday spending 3 weeks in an inpatient hospital pharmacy setting and 3 weeks in an outpatient pharmacy setting. Students are also prepared to take and pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam to become a credentialed CPhT once they have successfully graduated from the program. Applicants to the program must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, and be a US citizen or possess a Permanent residence visa.
