Description

All Instructors will meet or exceed one of the following three qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in early childhood, Child Development, or Preschool Special Education with three (3) years’ experience in an early childhood setting.
  • Master’s degree in a related field of education with a CDA® certification.
  • Master’s degree in a related field with three years teaching experience in an early childhood setting.

CDA Course Professional Development Advising qualifications:  

  • All PD Advisors must meet the following qualifications: B.A., B.S. or advanced degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or related field with one (3) years’ experience working directly with children as a teacher, child life worker, social worker, or similar role and one (1) year of responsibility for the professional growth of another adult.

The CDA training will take place over 14 weeks, meeting 3 nights per week for 3 hours each night. The course will provide the CDA student with the CDA content and the adult education employability skills contextually and continuously together throughout the duration of the course. The CDA instructor and the adult education instructor will work together to ensure the information and skills are taught to the students. The course will also ensure the topics related to earning the Essential Soft Skills Credential are embedded and discussed throughout the course to ensure the CDA students are exposed to the information necessary to complete the training modules and earn the Essential Soft Skills Credential at the end of the course.
