Description

Registered Nurse

This is a program that prepares individuals to perform routine nursing-related services to patients in hospitals or long-term care facilities. The training is supervised bya registered nurse or licensed practical nurse. The nine week Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification training materials include the Indiana State Department of Health Nurse Aide Curriculum. The state curriculum will be taught via direct instruction in a classroom setting for three weeks, followed by six weeks of esperiential training within alocal nursing home facility. Students will also be trained in employability skills using the McGraw Hill Essential Skills for the Workplace series, as well as through Work One consultations and workshops. The candidates for the Certified Nursing Assistant will acquire the following skills during their training. These are skills which also are tested during the certification process. Taking Vital signs: Blood Pressure Pulse Respiration Temperature Attending to Personal Care for patients: Bathing Shaving Dental care Safe, Clean Toileting Nail Care Back Rubs Post Mortem Care Following Facility Policies and Procedures: On time arrival and good attendance Drug Free Professional appearance Workforce Preparation Skills: Developing Good Habits Thinking Positively- Employee Mindsets Building Quality Relationships Setting Goals Resume Writing Job Applications Job Search and Networking Interviewing skills
