Minimun credential is ASCP phlebotomy technician.
This is a 16 week course (consisting of at least 40 hours of didactic and 100 hours of clinical) designed to prepare students to perform Phlebotomy in the clinical setting. The course content includes medical terminology and anatomy applicable to the practice of phlebotomy. Other content areas include specimen collection and storage, patient identification, safety, infection control, and blood collection procedures. Venipuncture will be highly emphasized with student laboratory components. Communication and professionalism will be reviewed. After successful completion of the didactic component, the student will complete clinical hours at our affiliate sites. Successful completion of the course will allow students to be eligible for the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC) Phlebotomy Exam.
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 18 years old.
Deadline to Register for class is the Wednesday prior to the start of each semester.
