Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, and
Completed academic preparation and/or work experience appropriate to the program being credentialed to teach for, and
Holds professional certification in the field.
- ServSafe Certification is required.
- ServSafe Instructor Proctor is required.

Program Description:

The Hospitality Administration program provides the skills to be successful in the hospitality industry, which is the largest private sector employer in the US. The industry offers exciting, fulfilling career options with excellent advancement opportunities for those who possess the passion and willingness to work hard and serve others. The Ivy Tech Community College Hospitality Administration program mission is to provide excellence in education to students with a professional, technical, transfer and lifelong education for successful hospitality careers, personal development and citizenship. The Hospitality Management Technical Certificate (TC) prepares students for the ServSafe© Food Manager certification as well as several ManageFirst© Professional certification exams:

Hospitality and Restaurant Management

Students gain hundreds of hours of valuable work experience and can go on to enter the workforce immediately or complete the associate degree in Hospitality Management. Please note: This technical certificate can be taken mostly online, with the exception of HOSP 102, Basic Food Theory and Skills (this is a kitchen lab class that requires the purchase of a uniform - around $133 - and a small knife kit - $138) and the externship, HOSP280.

52.0901 Hospitality Administration/Management, General A program that prepares individuals to serve as general managers and directors of hospitality operations on a system-wide basis, including both travel arrangements and promotion and the provision of traveler facilities. Includes instruction in principles of operations in the travel and tourism, hotel and lodging facilities, food services, and recreation facilities industries; hospitality marketing strategies; hospitality planning; management and coordination of franchise and unit operations; business management; accounting and financial management; hospitality transportation and logistics; and hospitality industry policies and regulations.
