The CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© is a 5-day intensive training academy focusing on providing individuals with the skills need to guide, mentor and support anyone who would like to enter into or sustain long-term recovery from an addiction to alcohol or other drugs. Provided in a retreat like environment, the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© prepares participants by helping them to actively listen, ask really good questions, and discover and manage their own stuff.
There are not any pre-requisites to attend the training. There are pre-requisites to obtain the Certified Addiction Peer Recovery Coach (CAPRC) or Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC) credential that this educational training is typically taken for, that includes a high school diploma or equivalent state certificate. Note: the CAPRC credential is for persons in PERSONAL recovery from substance use, mental illness or co-occurring disorders.
The CARC is for persons NOT in personal recovery (family memerbs, loved ones, allies etc.)
The application deadline varies by when each 5-day, 30 hour, training course is scheduled. Each training typically allows roughly 25-30 participants and is first come, first serve for registration until the class size is full. Trainings are typically marketed to the public and employers. The Training Institute offers individual scholarships for partial, or full, cost of the training, on a individual basis and what current Scholarship fund donations allow.
